Wine makes everything better. When going to Charlottesville there are lots of great things to do but going on a wine tour was the best value and fun we could have experienced. So many great people are there to make sure your time touring is the best. Often when we traveled in party vans or exclusive vehicles we would ask our driver to stop for photos, they were happy to accommodate us each time. That is one of the great things about our past tours, the people. I was traveling with my girlfriend and she wanted to stop every five minutes for another photo. I was annoyed but our driver, actually all of the drivers, were the greatest people ever with positive joy that they transferred right on to us. One driver wouldn’t just stop but he would yell, “photo op, of a lifetime here!” It soon became a wonderful joke that we still enjoy today. We often will stop random places, with a smile on our faces, as we yell out the joke to our friends or loved ones.
On the Charlottesville VA wine tours, all our guides always amaze us with their knowledge. They are able to relate to us the deep incredible history of the area. Did you know Thomas Jefferson’s dream to have wineries here was actually a failure and he documented those failures. Little did he know that it would take time beyond his days to make the dream a reality. The history is amazing and you find out something new each time about the wineries that was successful only because of persistence.
the Vitis vinifera varieties represents 75% or the majority of production in the area as of 2012 and is native to the Mediterranean region. This is a common grape but sweet, with a hardy vine. It does make some of the classic wines we all know and love. There are also some American verities available that are fabulous.
The thing about wine tasting is it is just a good time with a group of friends or family. It is the experience of trying different wines that you wouldn’t be able to have if you just stayed at home. The tasting rooms are decorated for a unique conversance with the area. The tour gives you that sense of culture and enables you and your friends to have deeper conversations, deeper enjoyment and a deeper experience together.
If you want to truly find the best wines then maybe check out a wine competition held yearly. In this article published only last year a competition is described in more detail and sounds like a great experience for anyone that wants to visit the area. I haven’t been able to attend one in the past but have plans this year. Last year there were hundreds of vineyards competing for the top wine in the event described. I know where ever you go for your tour you will not be disappointed and will have a great time with friends and family.
